The board will be discussing ways to "go green" and to cut the budget. On the agenda will be discussing whether to cancel the paper version of the newsletter or charging members who receive it a surcharge. Also up for discussion will be shifting from preprinted nametags to homemade nametags.
Additional Upcoming Sew-Ins
The guild will be sponsoring two more sew-ins in the upcoming weeks, albeit not for Helping Hands. They will be held in Sew Creative between 10:30am and 4pm on Saturday, January 21st and Saturday, Febuary 25th. The facility can only accomodate about 20 people at a time, so please e-mail president@omahaquiltersguild.org or newsletter@omahaquiltersguild.org to ensure there will be space for you.
We have two upcoming workshops with our March Speaker, Mary Ann Kelmer. The one on March 10, 2012 is called "Fabric Rescue." The next day on March 11th is her "All Day Asymmetree Quit Class." Please contact Judy if you wish to participate. Space is limited, so don't delay.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the January Sew-In a success. The quilts you tied, bound, and otherwise worked on will be going to a good cause. Click here for photos. If you wish to add your own to this gallery, contact the webmaster@omahaquiltersguild.org.
Tickets Available. Contact quiltmom2012@omahaquiltersguild.org for more information.
It was really nice to see a lot of members at the meeting and we could see that the members were busy this summer. Some members worked on unfinished tops of their own or finished a top that was given to them. Some played in the vegatable garden or the flowers. Every one was busy this summer.
I want to invite you to join Theresa H and me in "Creating a great display" for OQG Quilt Show 2012. If you have ideas, draw them out. Drop them off at the next guild meeting. I am the Chairperson, but you are the Helping Hands Committee. You have a voice. talk to me, let me know what you have seen at another Quilt Show that you liked.
Here is what you do with a 12 inch square.

- Divide one 12 inch square into thirds or fourths.
- Put 3 inch or 4 inch line on the center seam line.

- Turn the outside middle four sections.
- Turn 180 degrees.
- Carefully sew back together.
