We met in the gym at Westside Community Center on Tuesday,  December 13, 2005 for our annual holiday  potluck dinner, mini-raffle, auction and to vote for our favorite Christmas stocking.

A wonderful time was had by all.  The mini-raffle, stocking challenge and auction raised a record amount of money for Child Protection Services.  We have  insured that the children held in protective custody over the holidays will be found by Santa Claus once again.

We sang Christmas songs - a particularly competitive "12 days of Christmas" will be long remembered by me - and hugging and cheering of mini-raffle winners was everywhere.  It was obvious that we were a large room of "friends".  Laughter was everywhere!

At our house,  we have no small children to wake us up early on Christmas morning anymore.  I miss the sights and the sounds of that ritual.  But, the children are grown and, along with the grandchildren, have moved out of state.   Our annual party and it's central mission of helping children has filled a place in my heart that has been empty for a long time.    Thank you all for being a part of my life and God Bless you all.

Sincerely,  Roberta "Shameless" Willet
