Quilt Appraisals
If you wish to have your old, newly made, or
art quilt(s) appraised while displayed at the NQA show in Columbus, or if you
wish to bring in quilts for appraisals, please contact Dee Dadik
(614-861-0478) or deedadik@att.net). Dee, a certified AQS appraiser, and
Molly Butler, an accredited member of The International Society of Appraisers,
will conduct both hanging and walk-in appraisals. They will be located
on the second floor of the Convention Center C Pod daily Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday from 12:30 until 3 PM and as appointments dictate. Your quilt
appraisal is for insurance purposes unless you request another type of
appraisal. The cost of insurance appraisal is $45.00 per quilt.
Vendors
The NQA Annual Quilt Show boasts an
impressive Vendor Mall at each
show, filling the large Exhibit Hall C of the Greater Columbus Convention
Center. Just past the award winning quilts and the NQA Booth, the floor
opens up to a world of opportunity for shoppers of anything quilting related,
as the diverse and talented vendors set up shop and offer new and exciting
products and methods for quilters to enjoy. Plan on spending hours
looking at all of the exciting things they have to offer, and be sure to bring
your credit card and fun money.
The Vendor Mall hours
are:
Friday, May 23rd, from 9am to
6pm
Saturday, May 24th, from 9am to
6pm
Sunday, May 25th, from 10am to
3pm

Call for Quilt Entries
Show your quilt at the
Quilt Show!
The National Quilting Association is
unique among the large quilt shows in that all quilt entries
submitted are accepted for the competition. Up to 400 quilts are
accepted each year for professional judging by NQA Certified Judges as an
integral part of the NQA Certified Judging Program. The judging process
results in thoughtful and educational critiques of each and every quilt.
This year you may elect to enter your quilt by mail or online. Quilt
Show entry is $20 for NQA Members; $30 for Non-Members.
More about general entry
information , entry rules, and category definitions can be found on the
Quilt Show website.
Volunteering at the
Show
Volunteers are a vital part of the
NQA Annual Quilt Show this year, and we are very fortunate to welcome back Sherri Powell as Volunteer
Coordinator. Sherri will be happy to hear from you when you write to her at
spowell.vcnqa@gmail.com. Use the online form at http://www.nqaquilts.org/forms/helping-hands/
. Or print this one, and send it in: Volunteer

From The
President
From sophisticated to whimsical, modern to traditional you will see a
broad spectrum of quilts at the NQA Annual Quilt
Show. With more than 400 quilts on display you will find a style or design
that pleases you.
The success of the show is dependent upon your attendance and your quilt
entry. If you haven’t entered
your quilt
yet now’s the time to go online to enter your quilt. If competition isn't what
you do, you can still support NQA by
attending the show and taking classes. Members receive reduced rates for show
entry and classes. Go to NQA’s website for more information about the show, quilt
entry and classes.
See you there!

Little Quilt Auction
(LQA)
Entries are coming in for the Little Quilt Auction, an indicator that
this will be another great year for this
much anticipated auction. A selection of Little Quilts will be available
each day for a silent auction. A
live auction Saturday evening will include the Viewer’s Choice
award from among these quilts. Proceeds from the
auction are used to award grants that encourage education and expansion of the art,
heritage, and skills related to quilting.
Special thanks to the NQA Certified Judges who have contributed their
quilts
made as a part of their Color Challenge. You may have seen these
quilts at regional s hows - they have been
touring for two years as "A Color Journey".
There’s still time to register and finish
your Little Quilt (no larger than 28” x 28”). The
wide variety of quilts included in the
Little Quilt Auction makes this a wonderful exhibit, supports NQAs educational outreach and gives you an
opportunity to own a unique piece of artwork.
Register your Little Quilt online by April 1st at
http://www.nqaquilts.org/grants/lqa/.
Completed quilts should be mailed by April 30th to:

Help us get the word out about the Annual Quilt Show! How?
If you're a Facebook user, share the posts as emails with friends who don't
use Facebook! Do you use Twitter? Tweet those posts for all your followers to
see! Or, if you find yourself at a quilter's event, share! I was able to do
that last week at the
NEORQC Getaway 2014. Made some new friends
and encouraged them to enter a quilt, take a class, or volunteer at the
show.
