What a Hoot! The Bus Trip of 2011

Bus Trip-It was a hoot!

55 quilters made the trip to Des Moines on Sat. October 1 and I think that we would all agree, it was a hoot! What is more fun than the annual bus trip?!

Couldn’t make this year’s trip? Don’t despair, there will be one next year. Mark the date on your calendars. The trip to the 2012 AQS show in Des Moines will be Saturday, October 6, 2012.

I do love planning this trip and I’ve done it for number of years and will continue to do it unless someone else wants the job. If you’re looking for a way to get more involved in the guild, this is a perfect committee on which to “cut your teeth.” You certainly wouldn’t have to follow my “formula” but I do have it down to one if anyone wants to follow it. And hey, the bus is already reserved! If you’re interested in planning the 2012 trip, please contact either Jan Fry or Corrine Mittag to volunteer.

The block exchange had lots of entries and was a big success. Sorry no picture of the group - we were all too busy purchasing, looking at quilts or eating to get together long enough to snap a group photo.

Squirrely Girls Bus Trip 2010

Saturday, October 9 we headed to Des Moines for the AQS show. The bus was full and we departed from the College of St. Mary parking lot on the Mercy Road side of campus at 6:30 am. Yes, it was early but we had found from experience that we really need the entire day if we expected to see all the quilts and shop all the vendors.

We were not disappointed! There we many, many beautiful quilts, new techniques to see, lots of vendors and more things to purchase than we had money to spend.

It was a great day of fun with friends...see for yourself. Friends Pictures here.
