DYE PAINTING PLUS

A 3-DAY WORKSHOP FOR THE
OMAHA QUILTERS' GUILD

Fiber reactive dyes are washable and will not leave a surface texture on the fabric so they are particularly appropriate for quilters.  Procion MX dyes can be painted or printed directly to the fabric in a process that works well in a small space without needing heat or steam treatment.  In this workshop we will review all the basics about these dyes, and students will spend most of the class time painting on a variety of fabrics. We will practice color mixing and  surface design techniques, learning to control the dye without resist in thick as well as thin mixtures. Ann will lead students through step by step, demonstrating and explaining.  Her goal is to introduce as many of the processes in Color By Design as possible, then cover the ways to combine the printing with low-water immersion dyeing as in Color By Accident.
